HGV Rear Under-run

We are proud to say that we were one of the ﬁrst companies to design, manufacture and test the Hope Safe-T-Bar rear under-run bumper and gain type approval in the early 80s. We listened to HGV operators, owner drivers and maintenance staﬀ – in fact all those who take care of company vehicles and know that safety and vehicle enhancement are of paramount importance – and we are still listening.

A Continued Investment in Safety

Building on our excellent track record and expertise, we have continued to invest in the development of Rear Under-Run Protection Devices (RUPD), making Hope Technical Developments Ltd one of the market leaders. Our customers beneﬁt from our RUPD in-house test facility and can be conﬁdent that their products are witnessed and approved by the VCA. VCA is the designated UK Approval Authority and a technical service for all type approvals to automotive EC Directives. Type approval is the conﬁrmation that production samples of a design will meet speciﬁed performance standards. An RUPD is designed to prevent the impacting vehicle from getting wedged under the HGV and is developed to cause the crumple zone of the impacting car to absorb energy. Under-run protection systems must comply with certain geometrical requirements to achieve this result. We’ve designed and pro-duced a ﬁxed and swing back option that varies in dimension as part of our HGV product range.

Our Optional Extras

Audible warning systems are available for our swing back HGV products. These systems use the latest technology to alert the driver if contact is made with an object while reversing. Our swing back audible warning system has been proven to prevent damage to both vehicles and property.
